Dr Sandi Hilal is an LTH Lise Meitner Professor in the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment at Lund University. She is also the co- director of DAAR, a practice-based research collective in Palestine that works at the intersection of politics, architecture, art, and pedagogy.

Dr Hilal draws upon artistic research and practice to inform political change that can be translated into policies for everyday life.

 

In this presentation, Dr Hilal will draw upon previous projects (including DAAR’s Livingroom) to examine the opportunities to challenge the dichotomy between official, municipal and public forms of hosting people in common spaces versus private initiatives that have the potential to inspire new modes and spaces of commoning
