Culture and Society
Cities include diverse populations of residents and visitors. Variation from one neighbourhood to the next creates a multitude of opportunities for new encounters and dynamic interactions. At the same time, there is a continuous need to mitigate the tensions and frictions that emerge from this diversity.
This focus area examines how people interact and take possession of the city through shared creative acts. It explores the barriers and opportunities to create culturally vibrant, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable conditions that allow for people to live, work, and play together.
